Plan your path to Financial Independence & Early Retirement
Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) is a movement focused on aggressive saving and investing to retire decades earlier than traditional retirement allows. The core principle is to save enough money that you can live off the investment returns indefinitely.
The 4% rule suggests you can safely withdraw 4% of your portfolio annually in retirement without running out of money. Your "FIRE number" is calculated as: Annual Expenses ÷ 0.04. For example, if you need $50,000/year, your FIRE number is $1,250,000.
Standard FIRE: Your current contribution path to full financial independence.
Coast FIRE: The point at which you can stop contributing entirely and your current portfolio will grow to a full FIRE number by traditional retirement age (65).
Conservative Path: Uses lower expected returns (5%) to account for sequence-of-returns risk and market volatility. This gives you a more cautious timeline.
